For those who are interested, I will be releasing the next version of Dodcap next week.
It will be a beta release, so it may not be as stable as the previous release. However, it will have some nifty new features.
The main attraction of the new beta release is that it now supports Windows 98 SE, in addition to the usual support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Other new features include support for capturing uncompressed video (for those who don't like degradation from compression codecs), improved analog capture card support (now supports ATI 8500DV and others), and bug fixes.
Another big feature is an "overscan preview" window during capture. This allows you to see the entire area that your camera sees during capture, including the overscan area that your television monitor would usually hide. The window can be resized and moved independently of the Dodcap main window. The catch is that the color, brightness, contrast, etc., of this preview window are not necessarily accurate, meaning that you should still use a television monitor to correctly set image quality during capture.
Again, I expect to release this some time near the middle of next week.
If anyone has any questions, just email me at [email protected]
Thanks!

Hi Jeff!
That sounds great!
I'm using win98SE and that DVraptor card.
I also bought yesterday one new 120 Gigabytes hardisk, so I'd try to capture also uncompressed material. Hope you software will work with Canopus firewire cards and with Pal mode.

Hi Jukka -
I am also interested in determining whether Dodcap works with your card. Canopus is notorious for making their hardware/software (especially their DV codec) proprietary so that only their software will work. Just out of curiosity, could you remind me what software you are using right now for stop-motion capture? Do you use the program that came with the DVRaptor, or something else?

That is good news for me!
The computer monitor shows me the edges during capture. I never thought to use a television, too. My card is the ALL-IN-WONDER 128 PRO/ 32MB AGP 4X CARD.

I use Canopus Raptorvideo to capture single frames with Workprinter. Then I import these frames (they are in bmp-format) to Raptoredit program to make avi-file.
I cannot for example use Premiere or Stop motion Pro to do stop motion capture with this Raptory-card. This time using Canopus own programs has been the only way to get that card working with WP. Anyway this combination makes good results, but it's bit slow, cause I need to do this bitmap/avi-file conversion.
